Two arrested in robbery of man, girl at gunpoint

Two Buffalo men were arrested early Tuesday after police said they robbed a man and a girl at gunpoint on the city’s West Side.

The robbers are accused of hitting the man in the face with a gun, taking a purse from a girl and pushing her to the ground, according to a Buffalo police report.

The incident happened on East Street near Hertel Avenue.

Jaquan R. Owens, 18, of Sidway Street, and Leeroy Ferrer, 19, of Grant Street were charged each with two counts of first-degree robbery, seconddegree assault, two counts of seconddegree menacing and a weapons-possession charge.

Owens also faces charges of drug possession and promoting prison contraband after police said they found crack cocaine and marijuana during a search in the Erie County Holding Center.
