Shooting outside NY home leaves 2 dead, 3 wounded
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A shooting outside a home in a blighted western New York neighborhood just hours after police and community members rallied for safer streets has left two people dead and three wounded.
Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge says a man and a woman were killed around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a botched robbery on Buffalo's east side, where the number of vacant properties rivals the number of occupied homes.
Detectives say two women and a man are believed to have been shot while sitting in a vehicle in front of the house.
One of the injured women is hospitalized in serious condition. The other is in fair condition. The injured man has been treated and released.
Police characterize the shooting as "an attempted robbery that went bad." They believe a lone gunman fired the shots and ran off.
